Bride is ‘deleting’ friends after being caught on viral video

australian news network

A bride went viral this week when she shared a video of herself walking into a nearly empty wedding venue.

After viewers speculated that “there must be more to the story” and questioned how things could have reached this point without her knowledge, Karina Marie decided to update her fans on the latest details of the day.

She and her husband have been in love for nine years and got engaged in 2019. However, due to the epidemic, the wedding could not be held as scheduled.

This is the entrance to our masquerade party. I’ve been talking about masquerade for the past 10 months. Not only did I digitally invite over 75 people to the same dance. But I also spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations. Five people showed up! ! ! ! ! ! ! Like, are you kidding me! ? ! ? As you can see in the video, we entered the venue. There was no one there. The invitation said 1pm. At 1:15 a.m., my mom sent me a message saying no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at two o’clock, five of us. In a venue planned to accommodate 40 people. I dreamed that I would walk into a crowd of people cheering us on. We were cheering and celebrating…but all you saw was a woman trying to cheer herself up because she didn’t know how to deal with an almost empty venue. All food and drinks were wasted. All tables and chairs are empty. Every moment I hosted was changing to suit. Are we still making the most of it? You bet your sweet @$$ we did. But did this video just capture all the good moments above the water for a second, F$&K yes it did it just made me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I such a bad person? What did my husband do to deserve this? Why aren’t we important enough for people to show up? I still have some “friends” who haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come. This really makes me feel sick. To be honest, I still don’t understand this question. But all I know is that I have my man. my darling. And family members who are there when I need them. For that I will be grateful #FAIL #fyp #whereisthelove

In January this year, they announced they were finally tying the knot in October, and Mary said she had been “chatting about it” on Facebook for the past 10 months.

“I created a Facebook event and invited everyone I could and sent out over 25 invitations to our elders and those who are not on social media to make sure they were included,” she said in the video Zhong said.

Mary said she received 40 responses, so she planned that number by setting up the venue accordingly and making sure her mom provided enough food.

“I really know who’s there for me and who’s not,” Marie wrote on TikTok. @kalina_marie_23/Tiktok

She also made sure to check with everyone within the week about their attendance, saying “at least 20 people” got back to her saying they would be coming, and some even had costumes ready.

The biggest question she faced after the mass absence was “Why?”

“If I could answer that question, I would tell you. No, I haven’t really received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there or giving me excuses,” she said.

However, the newlywed says she’s actually grateful for it because it means she gets a clear picture of who truly cares about her and her husband.

“We’ve been dealing with the grief of removing a lot of people from our lives,” she admitted.

“For the most part, we’ve re-evaluated our lives and spent a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we have.”

In another video, Mary said she was still “a little embarrassed” after that day and was “going through the stages of grief.”

When people asked her to “do it over,” she agreed, but said her husband was deeply withdrawn and had a lot of residual anger to deal with.

“A lot of his family didn’t show up either,” she revealed.

One of the saddest parts of the whole thing was that she didn’t get any cards from people.

After going viral, Mary shared another video on TikTok of her dancing with her husband. @kalina_marie_23/Tiktok

For anyone who has experienced something similar, Mary said: “I’m really, really sorry because I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”

News.com.au has contacted Mary for further comment.

Just like her original video, Marie’s comments section is filled with messages of support.

One said: “My heart aches for you”, another called it “cruel” and a third was “unbelievable”.

Others stressed that it was a powerful learning moment: “You really don’t know who your friends are when you have your wedding. I’m sorry you went through this,” one user insisted.

“People who don’t show up are not needed in your life,” another comforted.

Mary’s original video, which now has eight million views, shows the heartbreaking moment the couple entered an empty reception hall.

Holding hands and looking stoic, they walked alongside their son, trying to come to terms with what had happened.

Miley Cyrus’ melancholic cover of “When I Look at You” was their opening song, eerily reflective of the lyrics: “When my world falls apart” The situation they faced bravely.

“This is the entrance to our masquerade party,” Mary wrote in the caption.

“Five people showed up!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you can see in the video, we entered the venue. No one was there. The invitation said 1 p.m. “At 1:15pm my mom messaged me that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2 o’clock at a venue that was supposed to hold 40 people.”

Mary said she had a “dream” that she would walk into a crowd of people “cheering” for them.

However, she eventually had to “man up” because she didn’t know how to deal with the nearly empty venue.

Despite the disappointing turnout, she said she wasn’t going to let absent guests ruin her special day.

She explained that they still made the most of it, sharing clips of the dance floor with the few people who showed up, as well as a sweet clip of her and her husband dancing for the first time.
