As shown above, cherry blossom trees in Tokyo are expected to be in full bloom (mancay) by the end of March, according to the new 2025 Sakura Forecast From Jiangling Motors. This forecast is based on predictions after the first bloom (you), from southern to northern Hokkaido, there are more than 1,000 viewing spots in bloom.

When do the cherry blossoms bloom?

The first bloom in Tokyo will begin around March 25th. Flowering is expected to begin around March 27 in Osaka and Kyoto in the Kansai region. Hokkaido, which has a cold climate, will bloom for the last time, reaching peak bloom a month later, at the end of April.

The JMC also publishes a bloom chart detailing the flowering and blooming status of cherry blossom trees across the country.

Unlike last year, the current flowering period does not deviate too much from the typical flowering period, with many areas reaching the average flowering period, or only deviating by a day or two. Kagoshima in the south is an exception: its flowering period may be four days later than normal.

How to View Cherry Blossoms Across Japan

If you’re a cherry blossom fan, you might even want to track the blossoms across the country. Some avid cherry blossom fans travel from south to north every year to see as many cherry blossoms as possible.

To do this, you can stay in Kyushu at the end of March, then go to Nagoya and finally to Tokyo. You can spend some time in Sendai in early April. To round out your cherry blossom trip, head to Hokkaido during Golden Week to see the last of the pink blooms.
