Any suggestions on how to clean Cyberskin toys?

*

I’ve done a lot of research on this but can’t find a satisfactory answer. Everyone says it can’t be sterilized due to its porous nature, but I believe I can slow the spread of “infection” in the toy. Am I right? Also, why not use antibacterial talc (like the kind you use on your shoes)? Or use vinegar or alcohol to clean? I put some rubbing alcohol on the toy just to test and it didn’t seem to react or cause any issues. I believe antibacterial talc retards bacterial growth, so I just have to wash it off before using it. Am I missing something here? I mean, the material can’t be so bad that people can’t do anything to protect it.

  1. Verified-Customer says:

TPE is fragile and most chemicals can ruin it over time (or right away) including vinegar, alcohol, etc. Talcum powder can actually contain asbestos and is definitely not recommended for use on things that will be in contact with your skin or mucous membranes – even if being washed off afterwards. It really isn’t used anymore – most products these days specifically say “talc-free”. The bacteria is in the pores of the material and cannot be cleaned or disinfected away (nor “delayed”) and the size of a powder would be too big to get in the pores. If the toy is for external use, then it isn’t really as much an issue unless you have a open wound or sore. TPE toys are not recommended for internal use past their first use.

    >I mean, it’s not possible that the material is so shit that people can do NOTHING to conserve it.

It is. This is why it is recommended not to buy sex toys made of TPE/TPR.

By the way, bowling alleys use ammonium chloride for the shoes and it would definitely harm the TPE. Most foot powders are for decreasing moisture. The ones that are “antifungal” usually contain something like Miconazole Nitrate which would definitely damage the TPE and is NOT for internal use.
