While singles continue to complain about the dating scene, they’re getting out of their own ways and looking for love wherever they can—whether it’s at a book club or abroad.

Tinder reports a surge in users using its “Passport” feature, which allows singles to check out the dating scene in another city or find a sexy local tour guide.

The majority of Tinder users aged 18 to 25 have changed their residence to London – because who doesn’t love a British accent?

But singles will obviously have to try their luck in France’s City of Love, too – especially when the world’s best athletes gather in Paris over the summer for the Olympics. It is the fourth most popular destination, behind domestic destinations New York City (second) and Los Angeles (third).

Those who wanted to use their passport to fly around the world for dates also targeted Tokyo, which was the fifth most popular city for a land swap.

Looking at the country as a whole, however, Americans remain true to their love for North America, with the most common countries being added to profiles being Mexico and Canada.

Those looking to switch continents clicked directly on Colombia and the Philippines, while others checked out their matches in Japan, falling in love with Tokyo and beyond.

“Singles are embracing intentionality in their dating lives — being upfront about what they want and refusing to compromise,” Tinder chief marketing officer Melissa Hobley said in a statement.

“These trends are all about empowering choice.”

Although some people have stopped using dating apps, those who meet on these apps can have romantic connections that are just as intense as meeting in person.

A study published in October in the journal Social Science found no significant difference whether a relationship was established online or in person.

In today’s digital age, most couples meet online, with one report finding that the majority of users (63%) create dating profiles to seek a serious relationship.

Possibly in another country thanks to Tinder Passport.
