When you’re a long-time sex toy reviewer like me, you’re often asked one question: “What is your favorite toy?”
It’s a fair question, not only because people might glean some toy recommendations from the answers, but also because in order to find the most useful reviews, readers need to know what types of toys I generally like so they can try to figure out whether my tastes are consistent with their own. That’s why, for example, on my Toy Box page, my favorite toys have hearts next to them, and there’s a section at the end of my About page where I list my favorite toys in a few key categories .
But I have to admit: there is one particular toy that I can call my all-time favorite without reservation. That toy is the Eroscillator.
What is the Eroscillator and why is it my favorite sex toy of all time?
I’ll go with this toy Way Back away. I wanted it from the moment I heard it discussed on an episode of the Sex Is Fun podcast, probably sometime around 2005. In fact, I wanted it so bad that it was one of the first toys I asked to review when I started this blog in 2012.
I had tried a few other vibrators by then – but even so, from the first time I used the Eroscillator, I knew this one was different. As we all know, it technically doesn’t vibrate—it oscillation. For me (and apparently many other Eroscillator fans), this creates a deeper, more pleasurable, and more satisfying feeling than standard vibrations due to the “rumble”/depth of the vibrations.
Needless to say, this vibrator found its way into my regular rotation as it consistently produced more pleasure and better orgasms than any other vibrator – and hello boyyes! I’m not exaggerating when I say I have an Eroscillator on my nightstand at any time It’s been 12 years since I got my first product. I’ve had a few of these over the years and always replaced it immediately when it broke (more on that later) because it’s absolutely an integral part of my sex life, both solo and together. Nothing makes me work so hard or so consistently. Since I’m a very clitoral-focused girl, this isn’t just my favorite vibrator – it’s my favorite sex toysperiod.
In addition to great orgasms, the Eroscillator has some other notable benefits:
- At least for me, it doesn’t cause the temporary desensitization/numbness that’s common with vibrators, especially buzzing/high-pitched vibrators. This means I can use it for as long as I want and still feel great. It also makes it easier for me to climax again in the future if I want to, because my sensitivity is preserved.
- Its elongated shape allows it to be used during PIV or strap-on sex, or even in the (slightly adapted) missionary position.
- I found its slider control panel easier and more intuitive to use than traditional buttons.
- It’s very quiet for a vibrator, especially when it’s actually pressed against your body.
- Like many other vibrators, it can be used on the penis! It is highly recommended to place the tip of the Eroscillator against the tether to get someone off; this is a good time.
Which Eroscillator is best?
have Two different Eroscillator models:
- Eroscillator 2 is the base model. This was the first one I ever owned and it served me well over the years. I would recommend it to anyone who has never used a vibrator before and/or considers their clitoral sensitivity to be moderate to high.
- For those who like more power, the Eroscillator Top Deluxe is my current favorite. It’s a bit pricey, but the extra power is definitely worth it in my opinion. Even on days when my sensitivity is reduced due to alcohol, fatigue, recent orgasm/vibrator use, or other factors, this toy gets me out of trouble 99% of the time. (For the other 1%, I might pull out the magic wand.)
Furthermore, when you buy an Eroscillator, you have to decide which one appendix What You Want – There are a variety of combo kits available, some with fewer accessories than others. The attachments can be easily swapped out to give you a variety of sensations, but to be honest, I’ve only ever used two attachments:
- Super soft fingertips are Absolutely essential. (Legendary masturbation coach Betty Dodson agrees with me, if I remember correctly, although I can’t seem to find a video of her saying that anymore.) It’s soft, and softens the oscillations somewhat , so they don’t feel as harsh. I found it easy to operate, and the shape gives you some different sensation options – try using the edges and sides on your clitoris, for example. Many Eroscillator combos come with this accessory, but if yours doesn’t, I high It is recommended to pick one. It’s literally the only accessory I use.
- Literally, maybe every 5 years I use a G-spot attachment instead of a fingertip attachment. I only do this if my sensitivity is reduced so much for some reason that the fingertip attachment doesn’t feel stimulating enough.
How to use
If I estimate conservatively, I’ve had an average of 2 orgasms a week with the Eroscillator in the 12 years I’ve owned it, which means I’ve had over 1,200 orgasms with this thing. I may not have quite My Malcom Gladwell hasn’t reached 10,000 hours yet, but I’m there! So, let me just say, I think I’m qualified to give you advice on how best to use this toy…
- Lululube: You’ve heard this song before – lube is good, the more lube the better! I noticed a big Difference in feel between lubricated and unlubricated Eroscillator attachments; lubricated is more pleasant. You may need to use a thick water-based lube such as Sutil Rich, as silicone-based lubes are not compatible with the Eroscillator attachment. Reapply as needed.
- place: As with any vibrator, I think most people will benefit from starting with gentle indirect contact to warm up the genital tissue before moving on to more direct stimulation. (Check out my article on indirect clitoral stimulation techniques for more information.) When I use the Eroscillator, I move it around frequently, stimulating my clitoris from different angles through the external or internal labia, etc., until I’m ready to move the vibrations more directly Focusing on my clitoris.
- pressure: One thing you may notice quickly about the Hérault oscillator is that its oscillations weaken when you apply pressure. It took me some time to get used to this initially, but now, I’m actually using it to my advantage: the toy only has three speeds, but I can press it harder against my body to make the speeds feel weaker , and then gradually lift away from the pressure because I want it to be stronger. I swear, this is more intuitive than it sounds, although it may take some practice.
Quirky but not a deal breaker (for me anyway)
Look, I’m going to be honest with you – this toy has a a lot of Disadvantages, as you can already see from the length of the list below! In a way, though, I think this toy is a good example of why it’s still my favorite despite these flaws…it’s really just because it gives me better orgasms than any other toy , and, just like humans, there are many sins that are forgivable if you make someone hard…
But, okay, yes, let’s talk about the Eroscillator’s many shortcomings:
- Some people find that the oscillation is not strong enough for them. If you know you need/want a lot of Power wise, I would recommend something like the Magic Wand Rechargeable or Doxy rather than the Eroscillator. For reference, I’m someone who usually sticks to MWR first and second speeds and I found the Eroscillator Top Deluxe enough Strong enough to get me off.
- As mentioned above, its oscillations weaken when pressure is applied – although I have learned to work and This quirk, and not against it, this toy is not for those who like/need the pressure of a vibrator (unless you want to wean yourself) leave do this for some reason).
- Since the vibrations are more subtle than standard vibrations, I found that if I tried using a vibrating dildo, insertable vibrator, etc. at the same time, the sensations from the Eroscillator would be overwhelmed. That is to say, good God Does this thing feel good with a (non-vibrating) dildo? Especially the Eroscillator + Pure Wand combo, it almost makes me faint from the intensity every time
- Very expensive! ! The cheapest model comes with just one accessory and costs $119. If you throw the Finger Tip attachment into your cart (and you should), it costs a whopping $39.95 on its own, for a total of $159. For those on a bigger budget or craving more features, the more powerful model comes with a host of accessories (including my favorite) for a total price of $249. Perhaps worth noting: While I didn’t pay for the first two Eroscillators because they were review units from the retailer, I did Paying full price for my third one because I really, really like it and how often I use it more That’s a reasonable price tag to me. But I know that’s a pretty big expense for a sex toy.
- At this point, the reason I own a few different Eroscillators is that my Eroscillators sometimes break. There is a plastic “cone” that covers the seam between the body of the toy and its attachments, and the little piece of plastic that eventually holds it in place breaks off in some way, which causes the cone to come loose and rattle during use, You can even have the control panel pop up directly. Originally I thought it was irreparable, so I bought a brand new Eroscillator; however, the brand now sells replacement cones on their website for $21.95 each, which makes the repair cheaper and makes the toy more usable Longer life – better for the environment and your wallet.
- It’s an electric/plug-in vibe, so it’s not waterproof (obviously), and you have to be close to an outlet – although I’d say the power cord is 12 feet long, which is Way The cord is longer than most other vibrators and gives you quite a bit of leeway.
- Attachments are made of porous material! This really pisses me off, especially at this price point. The fingertip attachments are made of “medical silicone elastomer” and the other attachments are made of TPR. I personally haven’t noticed any ill effects from this (such as irritation or infection), but it Do This means you can’t share your Eroscillator attachment with someone unless you’re prepared to maintain fluid contact with them. The fingertip attachment will also discolor slightly over time because it is porous.
- Many people think it is very ugly. (I’m not one of those people, however. I’m sure the fact that it gave me over a thousand orgasms had something to do with it.)
final thoughts
I’ve been using my rechargeable magic wand a lot lately; here’s mine second Of course, the favorite vibrator. But when I switched back to my beloved Eroscillator after a period of no use, the difference between the two sensations was Stark.
The wand can forcefully bring me to orgasm, sometimes feeling like using a flamethrower on birthday candles. Like: Okay, we get Is it – too much? ! The intensity of these orgasms was almost painful, leaving my vulva feeling slightly numb and tired for a few minutes as it recovered from the onslaught of pleasure.
But the Eero oscillator…oh wow. Some creative people say that a good ending to a story, poem, or song should be “surprising but inevitable,” and that’s how I feel about the “Shudder Climax.” They have a way of constantly building architecture Then bursts into sparkling fireworks of joy. They are so intense and sudden that they tend to leave me breathless (sometimes causing me to reflexively do Lamaze breathing to control/process the intensity of the sensation), but they are rarely painful or As uncomfortable as a wand orgasm.
I talk a lot about orgasms here, so let me be clear, the Eroscillator felt great throughout the process – especially since it didn’t cause the same numbing sensation that other vibrators might, so I was able to fully enjoy the process feeling of any given session. But those highs… Phew. Now I may need to buy another one…
This article is no Sponsored; I’m quite possibly the biggest Eroscillator fan in the world. You can buy it at SheVibe!
