Fuchu Common Plum Festival

Spacious open-air museum complex hosts Common Forest Plum FestivalOne of the largest plum blossom festivals in Tokyo. There are approximately 1,300 plum trees of 120 varieties in bloom in the park, with red, white, and pink flowers complementing the early spring flowers. You can enjoy the night light show from February 21st to 23rd, February 28th and March 1st.

Now in its 47th year Setagaya Plum Festival is one of the most popular local plum blossom festivals in Tokyo. The event was held at Hanegi Park in a relaxed community setting, with plum trees blooming on a sloping lawn rather than a formal garden. This is a festival with a friendly atmosphere and a strong focus on community and culture.

Yoshino Plum Village Plum Festival

The Yoshino Umego Plum Festival is held in Ome to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the area’s revival as a plum-viewing destination. Nestled among the low hills and river valleys west of Tokyo, this grove has a distinctly rural feel despite being located within the city. The plum trees have matured since large-scale replanting began in 2016 to quell the plum virus. The festival emphasizes quiet strolls and appreciation of the seasons rather than large performances.

Shizuoka Prefecture Atami Plum Garden Plum Festival

Held at Atami Plum Garden Atami Plum Garden Plum Festival This is one of Japan’s first major plum blossom events, benefiting from the city’s mild coastal climate. Nestled in a terraced garden surrounded by mountains, hundreds of plum trees bloom before spring arrives in much of the Kanto region. During the festival, there is a foot bath and souvenir shop in the garden. Additional programs such as geisha performances, street entertainment and free once Upon a time (sweet wine).

Odawara Plum Festival (Kanagawa Prefecture)

The Odawara Plum Blossom Festival celebrates its 56th anniversary and is one of the largest plum blossom festivals in the Kanto region. The event spans Soga Plum Grove and Odawara Castle Park, with the most eye-catching being the former, where some 35,000 plum trees bloom against the backdrop of Mount Fuji. The castle grounds add to the contrasting historic setting of the city, with additional Merlin and seasonal cultural events.

Gunma Prefecture Autumn Horse Plum Blossom Festival

Located in a valley in Gunma Prefecture, Autumn horse plum forest With approximately 35,000 plum trees, it is one of the largest plum blossom resorts in the region. During the festival, visitors can wander the woods during the day, browse the weekend food stalls, and experience the area’s light event after dark, which takes place only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from February 14 to March 22.

Ibaraki Prefecture Mito Plum Festival

Held at one of the three major plum groves in the Kanto region Mito Plum Festival Approximately 3,000 plum trees are displayed, which bloom in stages over a long season. Not only is the festival an idyllic destination for daytime garden walks, it also features tea ceremonies and cultural events. There are also large-scale light activities at night, giving Merlin a completely new look after dark. They take place on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from February 13 to March 15.

Chiba Prefecture Narita Plum Festival

Located behind Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, Naritasan Park is a peaceful place to relax and unwind Narita Plum Festival. Approximately 360 mature red and white plum trees, many over 70 years old, bloom in the garden, creating a reflective atmosphere that naturally matches the surrounding temple grounds. On weekends and festivals, visitors can enjoy traditional performances, tea parties and a flower-inspired haiku submission corner.

Saitama Prefecture Etsui Plum Blossom Festival

held at Yuesheng plum forestOne of the three major plum groves in Kanto, this festival takes place on the gently sloping foothills of western Saitama Prefecture. The two-hectare site is home to more than 1,000 plum trees, including rare and historic varieties as well as the locally named Visei plum. Some of the trees are believed to be over 650 years old, giving the woods a layered, aged atmosphere that is very different from the urban plum gardens. On weekends, local food stalls, traditional performances and miniature steam locomotives bring a livelier atmosphere. Workdays are noticeably quieter.
