Survey reveals how many Parisians own Adult Toys

Following the LELO float’s appearance on the Emily in Paris show, the real-life brand delves into the mysteries of bedrooms across Paris.

Imagine watching your favorite series and seeing your favorite brand featured in one of the episodes? That’s exactly what happened in the seventh episode of season five of the hit show Emily in Paris. Everyone likes it Real-life sexual health brand LELO A surprise cameo in what it does best – celebrating human sexuality and the freedom to express it. After integrating into the Parisian lifestyle in this unexpected way, LELO decided to discover what sex toys Parisians have in their drawers.

The image of romantic Paris is a touchstone of global culture. However, the actual practice of pleasure, dating and sex among Parisians is often big difference From an idealized version. As Censuswide’s research for LELO shows, the true art of French love is rooted in subtlety, and a philosophy that puts personal happiness at its core. In light of this, it is worth noting:

  • (Only) 41.5% of people own sex toys. More than half of those surveyed did not own toys.
  • Even more interestingly, the most common items in Parisian drawers are sexy lingerie (36.1%) and condoms (35.5%).
  • About one in five (or 21.6%) own a vibrator. This is true in most districts.
  • Most goodies drawers come with a vibrator or dildo. Still, in some areas residents appear to be more adventurous. Most notably, in Zone 1, many of the goodies drawers are actually entire rooms, as BDSM furniture and sex dolls are among the most common items.
  • From a generation’s perspective, Millennials (42%) and Gen Z (41.5%) are the most adventurous 42% own at least one toy.
  • No one has more than 10 toys in their drawer.
  • Most respondents only had condoms and lube in their drawers; No toys (27.5%)
  • 17.6% own one toy, while 13.9% own up to 4 toys. Only 3.2% own between 5 and 10 toys.
  • The most fun area is Area 1, where 20.5% of people own 5 to 10 toys, and Areas 9 and 12, where 24% of people own 5 to 10 toys.
  • Most Parisians don’t like kink/BDSM. Only 23.5% of participants claimed to be interested.
  • The most perverted districts are Districts 1 and 2, where 44% and 45% of respondents are addicted to BDSM. The most kinky age group is 25-34 years old, with 37.9% of respondents enjoying kinky and BDSM.
  • The “obvious suspects,” the items found in most of the drawers, were underwear, vibrators/dildos, lube, condoms and clitoral suction cups. If you exclude these, the most common items found in most Parisian homes are Eye patches, 10.3% of people have one on their nightstand. Both men (18.5%) and women (14.3%) seemed to prefer handcuffs.
  • When we look at the typical goodies drawers in various Parisian arrondissements, almost every drawer contains male masturbators, remote-controlled couple toys and maid uniforms. However, some areas appear to be more active than others, such as 16.6% of respondents having edible lingerie and fantasy cosplay costumes in their boudoir. Strap-on suits, gimp suits and electronic sex gear can be found in 9% of homes.

Puritanism seemed to have no place in Paris, but sex was mostly kept in the private realm…and it had few accessories. No one would call Parisians prudish, but their drawers seem to be mostly used for storing clothes and other paraphernalia. Toys, not so much.

Fortunately, there are foreigners around, especially famous foreigners, who like LELO.
