Husband slammed for asking his wife to cook for him ‘carefully’
Is it 1955 or 2025?
When a shit-shocker asked his new wife to cook for him when he was hungry, not only did she put the asshole in his place, but she took to Reddit for advice.
On the r/AmIOverreacting forum, the disgruntled wife wrote: “I mostly cook in our relationship and I love to cook, but my husband demands that I cook elaborate meals for him late at night.”
“I’m talking gnocchi, empanadas, and meatloaf…that wouldn’t be a problem, but I’d be tired after a long day at work, and cooking in the middle of the night would just burn me out,” OP continued.
The phrase is not happy husband, happy life, so the OP was shocked when she kindly told her husband that when she said “I do” she didn’t sign up to be a short order cook and didn’t want to be expected to cook on demand, especially after a long day at work.
Well, this didn’t go well with the boy, who retorted that he was used to his mom always preparing something for him in the kitchen and he wanted his wife to do the same.
“This led to an argument and I told him I wasn’t doing this anymore. He seems distant now,” she wrote.
oops.
More than 600 Reddit users took to the comments section to support the frustrated wife.
“nor [not overreacting]. If he thinks so, why can’t he cook a nice meal for himself at night? ” one person wrote.

“Imagine a world where your rest was more important than his late night cravings,” another said, mocking the absurdity of the situation.
Another commenter chimed in: “If my husband said ‘but my mom ‘insert anything’ he would be sent back to her.”
Sadly, this is not the first husband, and certainly will not be the last, to display behaviors that make today’s younger generation of women opt out of marriage.
“Nor. If my husband asked me to cook a fancy meal in the middle of the night, I would laugh in his face. Girl grow a thorn and tell him to pound sand,” another person quipped.
When a millennial mom of two asked her husband to help her take care of her kids, his response was embarrassing.
“In the morning, they get all my attention, which isn’t too bad, but in the afternoon after they take a nap, it’s quite difficult to keep them entertained and cared for while I try to work. We’re actively working on different solutions, but this is what we have to do for now,” OP wrote on the r/AITA forum on Reddit.
By the time she finished her work, her husband had come home and she started preparing dinner.
“Tonight, I was cooking, my hands were dirty, the stove and oven were on, and he asked me if he could help with one kid while he held the other kid because he was being fussy. I told him no, I do this all day by myself and work, and all I need is 20 minutes to cook for everyone.”
In fact, the husband was frustrated because his busy wife couldn’t stop helping him with the kids.
