Review: Hot Octopuss Amo Bullet Vibe

The Hot Octopuss Amo is a 2-in-1 vibrator that’s great for beginners and a great way to switch styles without having to switch vibrations. Its unique shape looks beautiful and fits my anatomy perfectly as a trans man.

Design and specifications

The Sex Shed is run by the author of the Spices of Lust blog and sells a wide range of quality mainstream toys, especially vibrators. Their carefully curated categories, such as hands-free sex toys and toys for transgender or gender diverse individuals, help connect customers with products that fit their needs and tastes. Best known for its pulsating vibrators, Hot Octopuss aims to stand out with creative, imaginative and inclusive designs. I’ve always been interested in their designs but never had the chance to try anything from them until now.

The Hot Octopuss Amo is a bullet-shaped vibrator with a unique feather-shaped design. It has one edge on the top for precise vibrations and another edge for broad vibrations, making it a two-in-one product. It’s available in two colors: black body with bright pink to black handles, or burgundy body with burgundy to black handles. Mine is burgundy, which is the only color currently available from The Sex Shed supplier.

Amo has three buttons: one you can hold to power the device on or off, or tap to switch modes; On the opposite side are two intensity up/down buttons. The layout is intuitive, but the buttons are indented rather than protruding, which looks clean but reduces tactile response. Sometimes I can’t always tell if I actually pressed the up/down button. Sound-wise, it’s pretty quiet with the door closed, but you may want to turn on the fan above level 3 if you’re concerned.

It comes in a box with a black satin bag, a USB charging cable (pin type, so the other end plugs into the side of the vibrator), a booklet with detailed specs, and a textless booklet with very basic operating instructions (which I can’t for the life of me photograph very well due to the shine).

In use

The vibrator has a rounded part and a tapered tip. When I first saw it, I expected the tip to cup the sides of the thong while providing focused vibration, but wasn’t sure how the rounded shape would work. Both sides transfer vibrations very well, so it allowed me to try two sensations in one vibration. Normally I wouldn’t go for a multi-function vibrator (like a rabbit vibrator or one that tries to do it all at once), but it’s kind of cool that this one can manage multiple sensations with a single motor and a single function.

The round part is similar to a wand or other circular vibrator: the vibrations are broad and not focused. I don’t get much out of it unless it’s very powerful, but it can extend the session, kind of like a massage. After my experience with the Dame Com wand, I tried the Amo’s rounded edges and quickly moved on. This is not the part that interests me.

The tapered edge, much like a lipstick-shaped bullet vibrator, concentrates the vibrations at the tip. This is the best form of stimulation for me. The Amo’s shape works in line with how I normally vibrate with a lipstick tip – I like to insert the tip between the head of my clitoris/ penis to get stimulation along the edge of the head. Because of the wider tip, the vibrations are slightly less focused than regular precision vibrations.

The Amo’s long edge makes it easier for me to keep stimulation where I want it and allows me to provide targeted stimulation to more heads at once. I sometimes find the bullet vibrator to slide around and being tedious to hold in place. The shape of the Amo will “cup” which side it presses against. When sitting still, it is easy to stay in position.

When moving, it does not easily stay between the foreskin and head. However, It’s very pleasurable to use the Amo to stroke my clitoris like a finger/tongue while I’m riding the dildo. Even though I’m moving a lot, the action retains the focused stimulation I enjoy while staying energized.

Very easy to hold. There was some vibration transfer on my hands, but not enough to make my knuckles hurt on intensity levels 1-4. Level 5 makes my knuckles hurt a bit.

Intensity levels 1-2 don’t do much for me, but are great for warming up. Level 3 is medium intensity. I usually start at level 2 for half a minute, work my way up to level 3 for a while, then steadily work my way up to level 4, then to level 5. Level 3 is enough to get me off if I’m in a good mood.

There are four modes (excluding direct vibration mode). There are breaks between the two modes, but I found the stop-start mode ruined my mood, even when cycling through them. The other two modes go from low intensity to high intensity and back again, but at a fast pace that makes it hard to appreciate the high intensity. So I just use base mode and ignore mode.

Comprehensive

The design of the Hot Octopuss Amo works perfectly for my anatomy as a transsexual, with a shape that makes it easy to use even when on the move, and provides a wide range of stimulation while maintaining considerable intensity.

I highly recommend the Amo as a first vibrator. The 2-in-1 shape offers the opportunity to experience both precise vibrations and a wide range of vibrations, and the intensity and quietness are quite good at this price point. If you like tapered sides, you might like a tapered tip or a lipstick-shaped bullet vibe. If you like the rounded side, you might like the wand.

I also recommend the Amo to anyone who wants a bullet vibe that’s easy to move around and doesn’t have to worry about staying in place.

It’s really strong, but not what I would call powerful. If you need a real punch, I’d recommend something known for its strength, like the We-Vibe Tango or the Nü​​ Sensuelle Iconic or Point.
