Meet Daizou: Daiso’s cute new mascot
Daiso calls itself a “expensive price paradise” where you can find almost everything you might need at an unparalleled price, and even more, usually for just 100 yen. From everyday household essentials to collectibles, stationery, pet supplies, snacks and other trinkets you don’t even know you need, Daiso develops over 1,200 new products a month that has been the primary solution for affordable shopping since its first store opened in 1987.
Now, another new face has been added to the brand’s list of exciting products: Daizou – a cute and happy elephant who loves to find good and cheap items in specialty stores.

Let me introduce the mascot: Daizou is a friendly elephant, 100.3 cm tall and weighs 100.3 kg – of course there are 100 elephants to match the one-coin price of Dazou. The character’s hobbies include traveling and browsing the Dachuang store. Dazang likes to eat apples and carefully peeled chestnuts. In an effort to actively promote the company’s global expansion, Daizou has recently started learning English.
Design details
Daizou incorporates many elements of his beloved Daiso into his design. The striking ears of the elephant not only match the brand’s purple-pink palette, but also create a “D” shape that reflects the mascot and the company’s initials. Daizou also carries a D-shaped crossbody bag to store all his coins and purchases.
The character adopts an upward arrow pattern in the Dachuang logo. As their company profile explains, three stacked arrows represent a strong commitment to enhance lifestyle through product and store appeal.

In addition, exclusive Arcakit Nishicho Shopping Center At this location, customers can take photos with life-sized elephant statues and buy elephant merchandise such as plush toys and keychains before other stores.
Daizou even has its own Line seal, available in the Message Application Offline store.
It’s a miracle for a brand as large and iconic as Daiso. But with other 100 yen stores launching their own representative mascots—such as Can Do’s Wan Dog—we may soon have a large group of budget partners.
