The groom who deliberately sent the bride into the pool on the wedding day exposed a worrying new trend, with experts warning that it could be a huge disruption to relationships.

Wedding photographer Emad Joe captured the shocking behavior, trying to create a special wedding scene for newlyweds, who live and work in Egypt.

The snapshot should show the husband holding his wife while leaning against the black water, and the two looked at each other in the eyes.

But instead, he grabbed the groom’s horror moment, and seemed to choose his wife’s tilted arm, immediately breaking her trust.

After the young bride fell into the water, she could see pure horror on her face as she came out of the water.

By contrast, the groom can be seen seemingly happy with her pain, and the video shows him reaching his hand into the air to celebrate his actions.

Understandably, the clip sparked a commotion online, prompting Australian relations experts to weigh in, marking “disrespectful” and “related” behavior.

Melbourne psychologist Carly Dober told news.com.au that “unless she specifically talked about it beforehand, she agreed to joke, which is disrespectful and shocking.”

“We know that for many people, wedding day is a highlight of life and something they have been looking forward to for years.

“While not every wedding day will be ‘perfect’, ideally all parties involved will look back on the day with wonderful feelings and wonderful memories.

“Actions like this can highlight differences in certain heterosexual relationships where women’s feelings are not valued and their partners may not be respected.”

Indeed, many social media users, especially mainly women, were shocked by the groom’s antics, claiming that this suggests that the couple may not last.

“This is a reason for abolition,” one said.

“She could have drowned; all the fabric in the wedding dress in the water is no joke,” another pointed out.

As another person said: “He just put her down and then pulled her fist out in victory. Run, dear. It won’t get better.”

Others argue that the behavior is part of a growing trend of “humiliation” that makes the groom bad for the performance of the bride, such as by making rough wedding vows or applying cakes to the face.

“Why do men keep trying to embarrass their wives?” asked a woman.

When one speculates: “He raises his arm in the way, it’s like he wins her.”

Lauren Muratore, a recognized psychotherapist from Melbourne, agreed.

She told news.com.au. “It is derogatory to make anyone embarrassed, which is inherently acceptable in any relationship.”

“There is a difference between humor and jokes, but there is no place for couples to degrade, and this trend shows that men are trying to redefine their strength to some extent.

“Or maybe they feel their masculinity is under threat.”

Dober, the clinic owner of the fulfilling psychology of life, corresponds to these concerns, stressed that viral videos of these antics can “normalize” obvious poor behavior, while also urging people to act cautiously when making judgments.

“It looks like a temporary decision and it looks very disrespectful, so it’s not something we want to encourage more people to do,” she said.

“But if it’s a frivolous joke between both sides who are fully agreed and open to it, that’s another story.

“If they weren’t kidding and it was something he did without her consent, then there could be quite disastrous emotional consequences.

“Not only may she feel embarrassed, unsure of how serious he is with her and their relationship, she may also have a day of lack of confidence and safety, anxiety and depression, and she may also have to have some tough conversations with friends and family.”

Muratore, who delivered a TEDX speech titled “Sexual Sovereignty – Who is sexual behavior?” In August 2024, added that “the person who intentionally erodes trust to make others laugh” is not someone who seems to consider the needs of their partner.

“It shows power balance and lack of respect in the relationship,” she said.

“It is possible that this is a point of view, but if not, you have to ask, ‘Can she trust her husband?’

“Trust is an interesting thing, easily corroded and built, but it takes a long time to build the willingness to rebuild and two partners.”

Popular dating coach Shawnda Patterson warned that “every wedding season video like this drowns our schedule”, highlighting the impact of some men on the “prank” of brides is rarely considered.

“Whether it’s a vow, smashing the cake in her face, now let her fall into the pool, destroying her hair, putting on makeup and everything that’s ready for that day,” she said in a viral video on Tiktok.

“Two things a man like this doesn’t think about, that’s the time and the place. When the bet is not high, he can play such things on his honeymoon, and thousands of dollars are gone, it’s not the time to play.

“This kind of stunt is only fun if everyone laughs. Sad to you.”

Many viewers agreed, one of them replied: “The day she felt she was prettier than ever, and he destroyed everything in two minutes.”
