Improvisation, Airport and Elephant Man – Girls’ Juice

This is where I have dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then attend a screening by David Lynch Elephant man With my mom at the Paradise Theatre. It’s a very beautiful movie, very creepy and affected. It was screened as part of the Freak series. Many of the films in the series weave themes of disability, competencyism, and social exclusion, which is a great example. It’s so cute to watch it in a room full of devout movie nerds!

A little stupid. I like being a weird dress girl. I’m wearing it for a haircut. I’ve always wanted to get shorter and shorter. Feeling right, man!

This is the airport outfit I hang out on my birthday in New York. I originally planned to go to the airport with jeans, but there is one Reeeave Bad fibers exploded and eventually had to switch them to rest pants and leave the house. But honestly, this looks a bit rule-wise, making me wonder if I should dip my toes into wide-edged jeans for the first time in a few decades… well!

When I was a freshman at Journalism School, I bought this blue dot backpack at the Indigo Bookstore in Eaton Center. I’ve been plugging my books and laptop in there for years and it still serves me well when I don’t want to bring a whole suitcase.

What I wear:

• Navy and Red Vest – Technically, pajama shirts; gifts from my mom (and matching patterned pants, I don’t wear pants outside often, lol!)
•Blue cashmere cardigan-gap
•Black Wide Legs Lounge Pants – Urine, quantified a few years ago (they are comfortable and have pockets!)

I received two pairs of gloves that were the same as my Christmas gifts (from my very thoughtful parents and my very considerate parents respectively), so I decided to return to a pair of store credits… and ended up with this denim jumpsuit. They also use black, but the navy calls my name!

I real Not sure if I can stand out because I usually have a more feminine way – but every time I wear this jumpsuit, I feel very strong! For example: On this evening, I performed well with my class/theatre group and felt great!

• Denim jumpsuits – Aritzia (sadly, it doesn’t seem to be available anymore; I hope they bring it back because I might need the black version after all…)

Another improvisation night! I tend to dress up more casually and hermaphrodites for improvisation than I do typical styles, as it is the norm in these spaces, not to mention it is usually more practical when you run around on stage. That being said, I do like to blend here and there with almost no femme fatale style – like a teenage middle-aged man under a crop top, or my ever-present red lips, which gave me superpowers, I swear.

The performance was great! This is my improvised solo song and a stupid Hoedown poem about Morticians.

A friend gave me a last minute ticket to watch dinosaur riffs, a visiting troupe that included comedy dramas such as Lisa Gilroy, Jason Mantzoukas, Paul Scheer. I threw this out vaguely Daria– Inspire clothing and walk to the second city. The show is incredible. I laughed at my face with my good friend and was inspired by my improvisation.

What I wear:

• Sex T-Rex Shirts – Buy from Sex T-Rex itself (they are improvised) at Bad Dog Theatre; I cut off the neckline and made some other minor changes

aaaand This is another impromptu costume! My mom recently suggested I walk through the closet in her room to see if my teenage/twenties used clothes might want to be in the improvisation again. That’s where I found this shirt and I think it’s really really good on stage! It’s eye-catching and not annoying, making me feel very confident.

The show went well too – I made a boy band for Butter and a Blues Scripture and hopefully I could bring my mom to the Greek Islands, among other things!
