Addicts would rather deny a difficult fact than face it.
The most common form of sexual and pornographic addiction denial used by almost every married or partner addict is the following lie: “What my important person doesn’t know won’t hurt him/her.” Frankly, how many of us convince ourselves that this blatant lie is true. In fact, even if our partner may not know that we are sleeping or watching porn or otherwise showing it, it is almost certain that he or she feels and experiences some degree of emotional or even physical distancing. Sadly, our partner may be internally blamed for this, wondering what he or she did to create this rift, and causing our defense and anger when he or she asks us about this feeling of emotional separation.
