The head body found in 1927 was found in Angkor –

The body of the Buddha statue was found in 1927 at the Angkor Temple Complex in Cambodia. Archaeologists discovered the statue last month during an excavation at Ta Prohm Temple. Nearly a century after discovering its head, the head was scanned and preserved at the National Museum in Phnom Penh.

Although the head, feet and right hand are missing, the body is 1.16 meters (3.8 feet) tall and 56 cm (1.8 feet) high at the widest point. Its jewelry, robes and belts are finely carved in the complex Bawang art style, dating back to the 12th or 13th century. The left hand is placed on the chest, a gesture that is rare in Khmer art and sculpture.

The exact location of the head was recorded, so we know that the body was found 164 feet on the head in 1927. How the two are so separated from each other is unknown. Fragments of the body of the statue were found around, but somehow the head was away from it

They also scanned and from 1927 the statue was almost completely reassembled. Only the right hand is still missing. APSARA archaeologist Neth Simon’s national authority demands that Cambodia’s Minister of Culture and Fine Arts authorize the virtual reconstruction to become a physical reconstruction, and then reinstall the head, hands and feet onto the body for public display.
