The ‘Meryl Streep of porn’ explains what it takes

The Australian woman known as the Meryl Streep of porn has added another feather in her cap.

Angela White has been working in pornography for nearly twenty years. Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review report recently revealed White to be the site’s most popular porn star.

Her videos have been viewed a whopping 1,558,201,885 times.

“Like many people, I found out while reading Pornhub’s ‘2024 in Review’ report,” she told news.com.au.

“This is a super exciting surprise. It’s nice to know that my content is being found organically and resonating with fans.

“Pornhub has one of the largest audiences on the internet and there are so many incredible performers and adult creators distributing their work on the platform, so to be the most searched site is a huge honour.”

This is a big year for White. In January, she won five trophies at the AVN Awards. She just received eight nominations for the 2025 AVN Awards, the biggest night in adult entertainment.

White also won the Favorite Female Performer award at the 2024 PornHub Awards in March. This is a first for her.

However, her greatest achievement is producing one of the biggest movies of the year; “Fuck Angela.”

“This film allows me to work with my favorite director and many of my favorite actors while providing a fun and unique product for my fans,” she said.

The film just won the Adult Empire Award for Film of the Year.

“Adult Empire is one of the largest online adult retailers in the world, so it’s fantastic that F–K ANGELA wins Movie of the Year,” she said.

“F–K ANGELA” was a passion project for me. It’s a love letter to my favorite era and genre of porn: early 2000s gonzo.

“I shot it with a VX2000, which was the camera of choice for that era, and I adapted my costume and makeup to fit the era. It was so much fun to shoot.”

As always, White thanked fans for the 2024 victory. She said she wouldn’t be as successful as she is without their support.

She also revealed what fans can expect from her in the coming year.

“What keeps me going? I absolutely love what I do. That’s it. If you really love what you do, you’re going to wake up early, go to bed late, and work harder every day,” she said.

“I’ve never tried to set new standards; I just make what I want with the people I want. I’ve been very lucky and that approach has led to a lot of success for me.”

She said she would keep the specific work in 2025 secret.

“But I can say for sure that 2025 will have the same goals as every year: to improve as a performer; to improve as a producer/director; and to provide as much value as possible to my fans,” she said.

Earlier this year, White spoke to news.com.au about the realities of making porn. It’s a very different world than most people imagine.

“A lot of people still think it’s a shady industry when in fact it’s a very corporate industry – there’s so much compliance,” she told news.com.au at the time.

“There’s so much paperwork.”

The documents White refers to include 2257, in which performers are required to verify their age and name to prevent child exploitation. Before each scene, each performer must show identification to prove their age.

Then there’s a boundary list that includes every sexual act you can imagine, which the performer completes with a model liaison.

“We’ll go through it and say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ or ask for clarification,” she said, adding that the exercise can take 15 to 30 minutes.

Even if you’ve performed with someone countless times, it’s still important to complete the checklist each time because boundaries change every day, she says.
