Addiction cannot be cured, but it can be alleviated.

Newly recovered sex and porn addicts sometimes wonder why everyone (recoveries, therapists, recovering addicts) seems so determined to attend and attend 12-step meetings. Well, the reason is There is no cure for addiction. No matter how good a treatment center is, it cannot permanently solve our addiction. We don’t spend 30 days in rehab and then walk out the door. Best case scenario, we leave with an understanding of our underlying issues, some helpful coping skills that can help us avoid relapse, and a plan to carry our newfound sobriety with us to the rest of our lives. The program always involves ongoing participation in 12-step recovery. Because that’s what works. Experience bears this out.
