As hard as it is for me to say it, I find that consent is more important than what you think. Being on the same page can be a good thing for both of you, as long as you are both free to think about things you agree on.

I’m surprised no one called me about this.

I’m a big fan of the truth and I think we can usually find the truth if we try to do so honestly. But I’ve learned that sometimes we can’t, and sometimes more than one thing is true. Furthermore, sometimes arguing for the truth is unloving, or worse.

There are places in marriage where the truth is crucial. In some places, walking together is more important than endless arguments about what is true and what is false.

Sometimes it’s not important to know the truth. Other times it is true, but the path to truth is a journey, and doing that journey together is the way to go. Of course, grace and love are always a requirement, even if we are convinced that we are right and she is wrong.
