Open source machine parts?

I did a lot of research on OSSM after seeing it on Reddit several times. I’m a little confused about what I need to buy to build one, though! As far as I can tell, people can buy “circuit boards, remote controls, hardware, rails, and 3D printed parts” on the site. The only other things you need is a motor (and power supply) and what method do you want to use to mount it? is that so? This looks really simple.
