This bride is certainly not feeling blue.
A woman shocked by her wedding’s cancellation took it all in stride as she paraded around town in her bridal gown.
Lauren Scott-Berry, 34, was planning to get married last summer in North Yorkshire, England, but instead wore a $335 dress for a very unique photoshoot to get over her breakup “Taking Back Power”.
“I do think I may never get married, but I don’t want to be in a wedding dress forever,” Scott-Berry told JFK News.
The British woman then went viral on TikTok by comparing herself to the Dickens character as she paraded around beaches, ice cream trucks, swings and other locations in special costumes and crowns.
“I really felt like I had lost a lot. I was in my 30s and we were talking about having kids after we got married. It felt like my whole future was falling apart.”
However, when she was praised online for maintaining her sense of self-worth, Scott-Berry said the situation turned out to be “a gift.”
“When I walked out, I thought ‘Okay, that’s okay.'” Everyone looked at me and smiled. “Some people say ‘congratulations’ and I don’t even care. I just say ‘thank you’. I feel really good,” she said.
“I’m happier now than I was when I was in love. My confidence has grown so much in the last year.”
Now, Scott-Berry has come up with a “checklist” and plenty of advice on the next step in dressing up to make yourself feel even more “special.”
“When I went to the store to pick it up, because I had already paid for it, I tried it on again and it felt special,” she added.
“My ex had obviously never seen the dress and had nothing to do with choosing it. It felt very separate.”
