How does your pursuit of life, liberty, and sexual fulfillment compare to that of your fellow Americans?
Mattress review site Nap Lab surveyed 1,087 Americans from across the country and asked them to rate their sex lives on a scale of 1 (totally relaxing) to 10 (earth-shattering experience).
The national average for Americans to rate their sex lives is 4.770, which would be a failing grade if it were a test, with 23.6% rating their sex lives a dismal 1 out of 10.
Only 10.6% rated their sex lives as perfect.
It seems that most Americans are unable to achieve sexual satisfaction—especially since 5.6% admit that they have never had sex.
But 25 states do have above-average sex lives, with one state ranking significantly above average.
The most sexually satisfying state in the U.S. is Oklahoma, a survey shows, but wind isn’t the only thing that makes people feel sexually satisfied.
The state had the highest average score of 6.792, making it one of only seven states with an average sex life score above 6 out of 10.
Kentucky, Texas, Maine, Iowa, Louisiana and Arkansas also rated their sex lives as above average.
But many people in the “last frontier” are still seeking sexual satisfaction.
Alaska ranked last with the lowest score at 2.524 — and they needed the most help to heat up.
Close behind were New Mexico and Virginia, both with sexual satisfaction scores below 3.
But it’s not for lack of trying. A previous study by Nap Lab found that people in Alaska and New Mexico were having the most sex.
Maybe they just don’t have enough? Well, New York is a state that’s not surprising.
New Yorkers, known for having high standards and being hard to please, ranked 30th with a score of 4.545 – perhaps some people should book a stay at this Manhattan hotel to “re-explore their sexuality”.
The survey comes as reports continue to find that Generation Z is having sex less frequently than other generations and is increasingly exploring a variety of sexual orientations, including asexuality, which could lead to more Americans being dissatisfied with their sex lives.
