Love Addiction: It’s Not About Love

Too many of us are unable to achieve our dreams because we live in fear.

The irony of love addiction is that love addicts aren’t actually seeking love. What they’re really seeking, and seeking again and again, is the emotional release that comes with first love, which is, strictly speaking, ObsessionInfatuation is the stage of a relationship during which passion and infatuation take over. Infatuation is when your heart races when you are together and your heart aches when you are apart. During this brief period, everything about the other person seems fascinating and exciting—even things that will eventually become annoying. Love addicts use the neurochemical rush of infatuation to escape stress, anxiety, depression, and other uncomfortable feelings, just as sex and porn addicts use the neurochemical rush of porn, affairs, or one-night stands.
