A picture is worth a thousand words—and probably a thousand dates.

Relationship expert Katie Flowers says singles are being ignored on dating sites and apps because they don’t follow eight photo rules.

“Photos play a big role in attracting the right partners on dating sites,” Flowers declared. “They should be authentic, attractive, and reflective of your personality.”

As well as selfies taken from the wrong angle, it has previously been reported that women are put off by photos of men fishing for food on the app’s profiles.

But Flowers says if you follow her advice, you’ll be successful in no time.

First: choose photos that show your personal interests – even a photo of you fishing is acceptable.

“Don’t hesitate to showcase your interests and hobbies in your photos,” Flowers advises. “This can be a great icebreaker with a potential partner.”

Second, avoid over-editing your images, as authentic, unfiltered photos subconsciously convey an interest in real connection.

Flowers also said photos should be taken in “natural, clean or scenic settings to create a positive impression.”

Also, choose natural photos that don’t look too contrived, and choose photos with positive body language.

As her sixth tip, Flowers urges you to update your photos regularly so they accurately reflect who you look like now.

The guru also implored users of the app to follow “photo diversity,” which means using a mix of close-ups, full-body shots, and activity photos to create a “well-rounded profile.”

The guru’s eighth and final tip is the simplest, but perhaps the most important: smile.

“It’s time to let your photos tell your story,” Flowers says. “Attract the love you deserve!”
