As much as we try to avoid letting others pry into our personal lives, sometimes things get out of our control – especially in “trigger locations.” Such was the case when a couple was caught having sex at a military museum in Poland. The reaction to the incident from both museum management and the public was a hilarious mix of reactions.

In this article, we’ll delve into the details of the incident and explore the raucous reaction that ensued. So buckle up and get ready to laugh.

History of Gerhardberg – yes, please read it, it is interesting… and partly about sex

“Gerhardburg (also known as East Fort) is a fortress in the Świnoujście Fortress. It is one of the best preserved nineteenth-century Prussian coastal fortresses in Europe and since 2010 it has been home to the Świnoujście Coastal Defense Museum, the largest private institution of its kind in Poland, with a collection of more than 2,000 exhibits related to the development of the Świnoujście Fortress over the past 300 years.”

The original fortress was located in a very convenient location, so it stood firm for four centuries. These optimal conditions created the conditions for the first modern fortification of the time, which was built more than a kilometer from the entrance to the strait. But it was only a wood and earth structure and was also considered a semi-permanent building.

The fortress was destroyed after the Seven Years’ War, but surprisingly, it is still the strongest and oldest preserved part of the fortification.

After the Napoleonic Wars, not much was done here in the first half of the 19th century. So the fort was not updated until 1837. Then in 1846, it was decided to transform the site into a naval fort. Remember, this original location was at the entrance to the channel, so building a naval fort made perfect sense.

When to upgrade

In the mid-19th century, the Fortress was upgraded again. This was considered extremely modern at the time. – Every part of the fort and battery was carefully designed to perform its designated task perfectly.

However, these individual parts are also intentionally combined to form a unified concept of defending the coast.

These works lasted from 1848 to 1859. It is one of the two main buildings of the fortress. On the one hand, it was designed to defend the entrance to the port (it was built to imitate the characteristics of Prussian fortifications of the time). On the other hand, it was obviously used to house naval ships and artillery.

Next, we come to the 1870s, when armored ships were the new defense. They changed the course of the moat, built new walls, 11 new artillery positions, and multiple new cannon emplacements. Additional defenses included new ammunition depots, powder magazines, barracks, cannon shelter fire stations, etc.

It became even more important when electricity and telegraph lines were introduced to the fortress, as World War I and allow them to participate in a new kind of warfare in a critical way.

After World War I, the fort was partially disarmed and handed over to the German Navy under the Treaty of Versailles, and played a partial role in the war until the end of World War II. It was used by the Russians.Later, when they left the fort, it was converted into a warehouse and then abandoned. In the first half of 2001, Gerhard Castle began to be reborn as a tourist attraction.

What does this have to do with couples being caught having sex?

However, what they find is not at all what they expected. Instead of someone trying to sneak a souvenir, they find a couple making love in a dark corner. Not only that, over the course of a month, they spotted two more couples engaging in naughty behavior in dark corners of museum exhibits.

Museum’s response to hoax

On one hand, the museum’s response was as you’d expect – they put up signs saying CCTV cameras were monitoring all areas of the museum. Additionally, they reminded visitors not to have sex on social media and on signs throughout the institution. However, their wording was a little cute.

Museum Director Piotr Pilowaczykfirmly asking people to behave themselves, but also making some lighthearted comments. Although some of the things shown in the footage shocked the entire crew.

“In less than a month, we have already recorded three couples having trysts. Visitors to the castle have different personalities, and some are very conservative. We don’t want them to be surprised by stumbling upon a couple having sex during their visit.”
