The word selah appears 74 times in the Old Testament, mostly in the book of Psalms. It is used to indicate a pause, with the intention of giving the reader or hearer a chance to reflect on what has been said.

In a go, go, go world, a pause stands out. When you compliment your wife or tell her how much you love her, pause to give her a moment to reflect on that.
