Whether they’re for penis enlargement or anal training, inflatable sex toys are often overlooked and missed out on the fun (mostly because they can look pretty scary). But I hope this post will allay any fears you may have and maybe get you excited about a whole new category of sex toys.
Here’s a quick guide and product reviews to get you started…
Things to consider…
Material – Silicone is the best choice, although sometimes it is not a luxury we can afford, TPR rubber ends up being a competitor. But if you are going to use rubber, remember that it cannot be sterilized and you cannot share it with others.
Connector – Make sure the hose, pump and valve are all securely attached and nothing can fall out (especially where the hose meets the toy – this is especially important if it’s an anal toy)
Durability – Some toys can only be used a few times (even if the price suggests otherwise). Some toys can be used for quite a long time. However, nothing lasts forever and inflatable toys have a shorter lifespan.
price – Ugh. But it has to be said.
design – This is important for anal toys that need some sort of base or safety device to prevent them from sliding down your butt.
lubricating oil – If it’s a silicone toy, you can’t use silicone lube – this can be problematic for anal sex, as silicone generally works better. A hybrid lube might work. Or just use an anal lube and hope the ingredients don’t degrade the material.
Product Reviews
Renegade Inflatable
This anal toy is great for beginners. It’s small/thin and only inflates a little (to 1 ¼ inches). It’s also made of durable silicone, which is great for anal play. As long as the base of the tube is securely attached to the ball part (and there’s no risk of it falling off), it’s great.
Pink plug
Think of this as the next step up from the Renegade. It’s still made of silicone, but the outer layer inflates up to 3 ¾ inches. I particularly like this plug because the base is flared (more secure) and there’s a nice tapered neck to keep things in place once inserted.
Bonus points for being pink (instead of the standard white or black).
Inflatable Rabbit Vibrator
Let’s take a quick detour for a moment and look at this vaginal option. It may look like a standard rabbit vibrator, but the G-spot portion actually expands to 3.5 inches in circumference. That means if you want to put extra pressure on your pleasure button while playing, you’ll feel pretty full.
I don’t know the quality of the vibrator, but it takes two AAA batteries. So you’ll get a lot of buzzing, but don’t expect earthquakes – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for some people.
Accordion XXL Dildo
I had high hopes for this product when I first saw it. It has an interesting design (accordion shape) and the inflation level is impressive. But… it’s made of latex. Not the best choice in terms of cleanliness and allergies. It’s also porous, which is a big no-no.
Inflatable enema plug
Well, in theory, this toy is great (anyone who knows anything about anal sex knows the importance of cleaning the anus first and even deeper). This toy allows you to play and clean at the same time. I do have two questions though.
First, it says the tube is rubber, but doesn’t mention the rest of the toy. Second, reviewers say the base is too narrow and flimsy – sometimes gets stuck in butts, or doesn’t stand up to a few uses. Thankfully, the tube doesn’t let it get stuck any further. I don’t know. Maybe if they tweaked it, I’d buy one.
Cock Cabinet Monster
This thing is an 11 inch lure. Damn. Why, why did you have to make it out of latex! Even the smaller sizes suffer the same fate. The worst part is the description. They say it’s rubber but it’s not.
And, they also come with a warning to “DO NOT OVERINFLATE THIS TOY.” Does that mean it will pop in your butt like a balloon? (Okay, okay, I know most toys do… but still… oh my goodness).
Pump straps
I’m a huge fan of strap-on dildos. So when I saw this one was made of silicone, I was hooked. Even if the dildo was stretchy (which I don’t like), I would have bought it – mainly because there’s nothing else like it on the market…which is sad.
Tom’s Inflatable Dildo
Tom of Finland usually makes nice toys. So it’s not surprising to see that they made a toy for older boys. The circumference ranges from three to four inches, so it’s definitely not for beginners. I’m concerned that they marketed it for anal play (even though Tom is an anal play toy) because I’ve always been 100% adamant about having a proper base. The tube isn’t very long either. I guess I wonder how safe it is.
