1000-year-old scabbard accessories found in Poland –

A metal detective discovered a rare medieval swordsmanship decoration in the woods near Idevava, Northern Poland. It has been more than a thousand years old and has preserved the whole. Archaeologists believe it belongs to the Prussian warriors.

The accessory, called “shoes”, is mounted on the tip of the scabbard and shaped like a wider, slightly blunt sword tip. It is made of bronze, strengthening the most vulnerable part of the sword, with the focal point of the sword being stationary. They also convey power, wealth and social status, making the already expensive equipment (sword) even more expensive and even noticeable from a distance.

MichałMłotek was officially licensed to scan the cultural relics of the provincial protection monument and found a bronze medal last Sunday. He hopes to allocate it to the museum in Ostroda, which has four early medieval shoes in its collection, suitable for the museum that was housed in the Teutonic castle.
