Review: Dame Com Wand Vibrator and Weird Bedfellas Wand

When considering a wand vibrator, all I wanted was something quiet and powerful. I had success the first time I tried using Dame’s Com wand, which is almost silent behind closed doors but very powerful. When I want a more dreamy vibrator, the Strange Bedfellas’ beautiful wand top turns it into a visual and textural fantasy toy.

The Sex Shed is run by the author of the Spices of Lust blog and sells a wide range of quality mainstream toys, especially vibrators. Their carefully curated categories, such as hands-free sex toys and toys for transgender or gender diverse individuals, help connect customers with products that fit their needs and tastes. They provided the Dame Com wand for this review.

While the Dame brand focuses on creating products for women (the name itself is not subtle), I personally appreciate that their product design and marketing isn’t overly gendered like some sex toys. As a non-binary trans person, I don’t feel embarrassed buying their products like I do with other brands. Com’s color selection could be a bit more varied—Quartz and Periwinkle are both tasteful, but only a few shades away from the ubiquitous pinks and purples—but some of their products come in less common colors, like papaya orange or citrus green.

Dame Com is surrounded by amethyst dots.

The Dame Com wand vibrator comes in two colors: Quartz (light pink) and Periwinkle (light purple-blue). Mine is periwinkle. It comes with a bold blue bag, stickers, instructions, and a white charging cable.

Head circumference 6″/diameter 1.8″, length 2″. It is smaller than a classic wand and is compatible with most or all wand ornaments with an interior/insert size of 1.8 inches in diameter or smaller (such as Strange Bedfellas’ small insert ornaments). The head is slightly flexible.

Like many vibrators, the charger has a USB port on one side and a pair of magnets for attaching the vibrator. Magnetic areas on the vibrator are indented to hold the charging cord in place where it connects to the vibratorunlike most magnetic lines, which can break easily if you accidentally move the vibrator or place it in the wrong location.

There’s a button to hold to turn on/off or tap to switch modes, as well as up and down buttons for intensity. The buttons are easy to feel, easy to press, and easy to remember which button is which.

Dame Com retails for $119. The Sex Shed runs regular sales and currently has an 11% discount code popping up. Other retailers may have regular or seasonal sales and discounts as well.

Design and Specifications – SBF Wand Topper

Strange Bedfellas features a friendly gang of monsters looking for a good time, and the creativity and variety of their designs have made them a staple in my own collection. Their body-safe fantasy sex toys are some of the most affordable out there, so I highly recommend them as a starting point for those new to fantasy toys. I have reviewed their Batou and can recommend any other toys I get from them.

Strange Bedfellas makes Fantasy Wand Topper: a silicone sheath designed to be placed on top of a wand vibrator head for a textured experience, kind of like a vibrating grinder. The “Large Insert” has a hole big enough to fit them on rechargeable wands, while the “Small Insert” fits smaller wands (including Com). They have the same outer dimensions, so the small insert top cap has thicker walls, which may dampen vibrations.

I have a medium hardness 00-50 Z Topper that I ordered from stock. It’s soft, but not plush. It is marble in dark blue, pink, blue and copper colors. Z Topper is based on the non-binary demon Ziq and features tons of detailed textures.

My C Topper has a hardness of 00-30, which is very soft. I made a “pastel surprise” request (semi-custom) to a friend and the result was a gorgeous combination of translucent pastel blues and pinks with opaque whites or off-whites. Based on the nudibranch gal Ceela, the C Topper has rounded nubs of texture that open up to form a large, round, clitoris-like tip.

Both topper will fit the Dame Com wand easily. They open and close easily without adding any lube, which means less cleanup for me. They mostly fit snugly and don’t change much while playing. They make the wand feel noticeably heavier and I wasn’t sure how much pressure it would put on the neck of the wand, but that’s not the case That Heavy.

I do not recommend storing the topper with/on the vibrator itself. There’s a big difference between a soft topper and a sturdier wand, which can cause silicone oil to transfer between the topper and wand and potentially cause the wand’s silicone coating to swell. However, this won’t happen unless they are stored together for days/weeks in a row, so even extended playtime won’t have an impact.

I ordered a few other toys at the same time as the topper, so I received these in the same package, along with a bunch of stickers, a character postcard, and a couple of lube packs from the upcoming indie fantasy store Frisky Fox.

Prices start at $35 for Z Toppers and $45 for C Toppers.

In use – just the wand

Broad vibrations haven’t really worked for me in the past when it comes to clitoral use. Let’s be honest: Com isn’t going to do anything for me if I don’t really feel it, especially at the lower levels. Precision stimulation works best for me, and my Satisfyer Pro 3+ and Bullet Vibrator work great whether I warm up or not.

when i yes feel it, Dame Com is great, especially when I want something that won’t overwhelm me. While the bullet vibrator was really good at getting me to the edge quickly, I found Com is great at supporting existing arousal and guiding me to where I want to go. Kind of like the difference between boxing and massage.

Although the vibrations could be felt through the thin layers of pajamas or underwear, the dryness was uncomfortable; I needed lube.

In terms of positioning, the wand is very easy to hold and I can naturally use it at many different angles. Putting it on my clitoris, it got decent skin coverage, although I tended to find the wand tended to one side or the other (as is the case with most of my vibrators, considering they’re not necessarily designed for penises). I like to follow the underside of my clitoris all the way to my hole because there are so many sensitive spots in that area.

Levels 1-2 don’t do much for me in standard settings. 3 No problem. 4 is when I say “Wow, that wand might actually work for me”, sometimes 5 is too powerful. It goes great with riding a dildo at the same timeas the vibe style is more supportive rather than the star of the show. Considering it’s a wand and naturally has a larger tip than most vibrators, it might bump the dildo, but I found it had little to no impact on the way I played.

With the vibration mode, I like the feeling of holding it in place and riding out the. Four of the modes are non-stop, so they move up and down or tap through the loop without stopping completely. When they rise from meekness to strongness, their strength has indeed increased. The downside is that they drop very quickly, so you don’t have time to make the most of it before you drop. I think they’re somewhere between “okay” and “pretty good.” One of the modes stops completely between vibrations, and to be honest, this style initially made me think I hated the modes, so I’m glad this is just one of them and I can enjoy the rest.

In use – wand with top hat

Strange Bedfellas’ Wand Toppers are easy to put on and take off and add abrasive texture and a different vibration experience. Due to their thickness, they dampen vibrations slightly, but not by much.

The Z Topper has nice grooves and folds for grinding. On medium firmness it’s not as overwhelming as I feared and it’s pretty good. Although some textured parts end in points, they don’t focus vibrations very well. This is truly “wand + texture” in that it feels very similar to the wand itself, just with added texture. Personally, I’d rather see a Z Topper texture on a grinder than a stick Topper.

The C Topper has a rounded tip that concentrates vibrations. While not exactly precise, it’s an improvement over the broader vibrations I’ve gotten elsewhere. The textured slit at the top is so pretty; the little ruffles on either side of the slit are small, defined textures that I love rubbing against. The surrounding nubs create a lovely bumpy texture that rubs in very satisfyingly and luxuriously, not tinny or intense but soothing but not too soft. The soft firmness is great for the C Topper’s texture, but may help soften the vibrations more. The C Topper is great for use as a stick grinder and has a texture that makes it a nice stand-alone grinder.

Speaking of being used as a standalone grinder, the topper can be used in this manner. The insertion hole made it easy to fit my fingers in to hold the topper while rubbing it against myself.

Comprehensive

The Dame Com Wand Vibrator is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a powerful yet quiet vibrator. I personally struggle to get much sensation from wide head vibrators and prefer those with focused tips, but this one was powerful enough for me to feel something and enjoy the feeling of leaning back and relaxing. Plus, it’s easy to hold at a variety of angles. It’s luxurious and enjoyable, although I admit I usually need to end myself with a different vibe or rub as the broad vibrations don’t always suit me.

It pairs perfectly with Strange Bedfellas’ C Topper, which offers a fantasy and texture that can be ground with a tapered tip to focus vibrations. Strange Bedfellas’ Z Topper has a nice texture, but it doesn’t necessarily meet my needs. (Their O Topper, which has a protruding tapered tip, may be a better choice for someone like me who needs focused stimulation.)

Can I get another wand? Probably not, because they’re not the best fit for my body. But I’m glad I tried one to get a feel for what they look like, and I’m glad I got the combination of strength and silence in this one, which was exactly what I was going for.
