Asahina Yoshihide’s amazing story: The Hercules of Japan
Asahina Yoshihide (also known as Asahina Saburo) was born in the late 12th century and was the third son of General Wada Yoshimori, the retainer of the first Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo. Except that he is almost certainly not because Asahina’s mother is said to be the legendary female warrior Tomoe Gozen, she is hard to say that it may not exist. It’s hard to be born for the truth when your mom is compensated for narrative purposes.
Maybe Wada actually has a son named Asahina Yoshihide, but if he does, then he must be a man of flesh and blood, nothing like a superhero legend growing up around him. Still, we shouldn’t let the facts distract us because the asahina legend is great.
Asahina Yoshihide described by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (c. 1849)
Superman, the fisherman
According to Azuma Kagami Chronicle, the chronicle involves a lot of real history, Asahina wanders around modern Zushi in Kanagawa County with the future Shogun Minamoto No Yoriie when he was asked to show off his swimming skills. Sneak into Sagami Bay, he said to have come up with three huge ones Anyone, He had two in his hands, one under his arm.
Wani was originally a dragon-like sea monster from Japanese mythology, but by the time of Asahina, the name meant any terrifying marine creature with scales, usually a shark or crocodile. There are some portraits of asahina that throw two animals out of the water, and there are some versions that the artist decides to combine into some kind of terrifying crocodile shell. Because good superheroes are defined by their enemies.

Asaina Pass in Kamakura
Build and break into the mountains
Asahina is why Miyagi Prefecture looks like it is today. Obviously. Legend says that when he ascended north, he wanted to create a mountain as the target of his archery practice. So he built a huge Tontala The basket is like a backpack. He filled the soil with the soil and ventured towards the practice ground while resting along the way.
Whenever he rested, little bits of soil spilled out of the basket, forming a jungle, leading to the famous Nanomuri Seven Mountains. Archery practice mountain? That is Yagui Mountain in the Miyagi (also known as Yakura Mountain in the “Jiangshan”.)
Where Asahina gets the soil from it? Shinai Marsh. Abandoned Tangala? Obviously, it was Tangala Forest. The steps he left behind? These became Yoshida River. Is he a real person’s opportunity? Very low.
However, his name will never be forgotten, because although it is not commemorated in Miyagi, it does appear in Kamakura. A bit Asaina Pass (sometimes called Asahina Pass) is a narrow mountain road that is one of the seven historic entrances of the city.
Historical records show that it was built by the Hoho family, and the left and right are around the 1240s. However, according to legend, Asahina dug the pass with only his hands and monster power one night. The legend is more interesting, so this place is now named after the asahina rather than the Hojo family.
A small piece of truth in the legend?
While there are many reasons to suspect that Asahina is not a Japanese Hercules, he may be real, and his legend is the result of his achievements in the historic Wada rebellion.
In 1213, Asahina’s father and his relatives rebelled against the Hoho clan because they imprisoned his family. In Hojo’s defense, they are planning a coup against Hojo and their Puppet Shogun Minamoto No Sanetomo.
Facing Hojo Yoshitoki’s troops (later ordered the construction of Asaina Pass), Asahina’s father was suddenly betrayed by one of his allies. However, he bravely fought a numerically superior enemy. However, when he had news that his son Yoshinao was killed, he lost his will to fight and allowed the enemy to take his life.
There is a story that Asahina was part of the battle, breaking the huge wooden doors of Hojo with her bare hands and fighting hundreds of enemy soldiers. There are two possible explanations.
There is indeed an asahina Yoshihide who fought bravely in the Wada rebellion and his deeds are a little out of control over time until they incorporate him into Superman. It happened to other historical figures. Wada Yoshimori’s chance of bravery and love for his real child is also likely to invent his third son.
This child is not only super strong and brave. According to legend, he survived the consequences of the rebellion and lived for the rest of his life, with many children and allowed some children Part of the Wada family survives. Isn’t that great?
